Welcome to the Sadlers Farm Group a member group of the national organisation Riding for the Disabled Association. We are based in South East Essex at Alton House in Benfleet, with an offshoot in at Birches View in Thundersley.

Alton House holds rides every Saturday between 9.30am and 1pm  for all ages and abilities and is run by Jacquie Askew.

Janet Abbott runs a small group at Birches View in Thundersley.  She is also an instructor for the Mid-Essex Group and the Cedar Hall Group.

The Group is made up entirely of volunteers and as it is a charity receives no formal grants or funding of money.  It is run on donations and the goodwill of helpers.

The Group's Trustees are responsible for its overall management.  Each ride has an overall instructor in charge of the helpers, who are required to either lead the horse or side-walk. Helpers are needed to support and encourage the riders.  Sometimes it takes three helpers to assist one rider at a time.  A profile is kept of the volunteers and these are regularly reviewed and updated as the need arises; training is given and there is always the opportunity for those who are interested to become more advanced in their participation.

The Sadlers Farm Group (registered charity number 1073584) is a member of the national organisation:  Riding for the Disabled Association (incorporating Driving) (Registered Charity number 244108).
